Name:A Cat Who Writes
Peanuts by Charles Schulz for May 19, 1971

GENERAL

  • This is a side blog. Main: [personal profile] blackcatofmisery

  • Every fic I've written is here as well as the few poems I've created. It's all tagged.

BEHIND THE NAME

ACatWhoWrites has been my writing username for about ten years or so. I first started writing under CatGirlPrime and then Canadaphile, following my anime investments at the time. I wanted something that was neutral, as far as fandoms went, and still reflected my interests. Cats have always been my number one; family and friends associate me with cats. It fit. (Fun fact: If I was more of a furry, my fursona would be a ginger tabby cat or a panda. The orange-striped cat in my icons and the gif below is Jinglez, my sort-of mascot.)

BACKGROUND

I’ve been writing stories since elementary school, at least. I have always been the "artistic" and "creative" one among my classmates and family, whether the art was drawing or writing.

Mystery books were a big influence growing up; I read a lot of Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, my brother introduced me to Boxcar Children, etc. Now, I still like mysteries, but I don’t really write many. I’m weak for cute stories and less drama.

I've never outlined my stories. I just sit and write whatever comes to me. (I don't recommend it; I suffer so much.)

I pretty much never talk about my stories or AUs unless asked; however, I do love talking about them. That’s why I used to say I write more in comments than fic. (The actual stats have changed; I don't read or write nearly as much as I used to.) I Talking about my stories or with other writers about their stories is a lot of fun, and I miss it. Ideas are more appealing than actual completed stories, I've found, and I enjoy commenting back and forth and making threads of spitballed ideas and suggestions and collaborative thoughts.
